For the current year, the technology, healthcare and customer service sectors are among the most in-demand positions in Canada in 2023 according to Randstad, a leader in the human resources services industry.

Executive vice-president at Randstad Canada, Marie-Pier Bédard, points out, however, that there are also several jobs available that require relatively little general education and that offer good salaries.

Inflation protection demanded

As e-commerce is still popular in 2023, this sector also presents several jobs in demand.

According to Randstad Canada, companies are looking for digital marketing coordinators, customer service representatives and business analysts, among others.

Marie-Pier Bédard adds that positions are also to be filled within supply chains.

2 – Human Resource Manager

HR managers have a crucial role to play in helping companies address these challenges and embrace new working practices, including remote and hybrid working opportunities. Salary range: $75,000 to $156,000 depending on the level of the position.

3 – Mechanical Engineer

More and more of Canada’s blue-collar workers are retiring, and until recently the construction trades were not a recommended career choice in high schools, leading to decades of shortages of qualified young people in that sector. Good welders are therefore currently in demand across Canada. Salary range: $40,000 to $74,000 depending on the level of the position.

5 – Accounting technician/clerk

Despite an influx of new workers in the accounting sector, there is still a significant need in this sector. Accounting professions are in such high demand that they are part of the Canadian government’s express entry system. Salary range: $61,000 to $114,000 depending on the level of the position.

6 – Nurse

Nurses are on the list of the most demanded jobs in the health sector every year: there is a massive shortage of this type of personnel. Salary range: $68,000 to $94,000 depending on the level of the position.

7 – Warehouse Clerks

High demand for consumer goods is causing high demand for talent across the supply chain, with warehouse workers being the most needed professionals. Many employment opportunities are available to skilled and unskilled workers. Salary range: $17 to $29/hour depending on the level of the position.

8 – Customer Service Advisor

Today’s Customer Service Advisors work mostly from home, are technologically savvy to use company communication software, and demonstrate sufficient creativity and empathy to offer each customer a personalized experience. Salary range: $43,000 to $74,000 depending on the level of the position.

9 – Driver

The shortage of truckers and drivers is a complex problem. Nonetheless, there is a critical need to fill the commercial driver position, especially with the increase in online shopping in Canada and the current supply chain challenges. Salary range: $42,000 to $65,000 depending on the level of the position.

10 – Sales Associate

A good salesperson can make a business successful. During the pandemic, as many stores temporarily closed, many associates found new jobs. Now, shops and hotels are resuming operations and demand is on the rise. Salary range: $46,000 to $84,000 depending on the level of the position.
